Goldstone & Clemmow                           3rd Oct 2016 at the Library Theatre Map

Chris Thomas was the driving force behind Luton Music for over 40 years, serving on the committee and as Chairman. This opening concert of our season is in celebration of all his achievements, including the programming of over 1000 concerts. In 1993 it was he who commissioned Luton Variations, approaching a group of composers all of whom were associated with the club in some way, as President, Vice-president, contributor or audience member.

For this special occasion we welcome back to Luton two much-loved artists, the duettists, Caroline Clemmow and Anthony Goldstone. The concert also anticipates our initiative this season to honour female composers. Vice-president of the club, Christine Bunning, will perform a group of songs by Betty Roe. Finally Chris has chosen to close this celebratory concert with Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns, narrated by our current President, Radio 3’s Petroc Trelawny.
